Just thought I'd write a little post about something really annoying that we see people say time and time again.
"We make a mean cup of tea"
No-one cares. Everyone is saying the exact same thing! That they'll make hundreds of cups of tea a day, bring in biscuits or bake a cake. Why?
Be original. Find out something about the person you are contacting and tell them something different to the normal scripted things that your rivals are saying.
Back in the day, when we were at uni, we got told the same advice. Then everyone goes off to e-mail the same people with the same old speech. Put some of your personality into it. NOT someone elses.
This industry is all about being different so start as you mean to go on.
We do like tea though. Milky. 9 Sugars.
